The thermocouple is a vital safety and control sensor that monitors the temperature of the fire in your Quadra-Fire pellet stove. By generating a small millivolt signal when heated, it tells the control board that a flame is present and that it is safe to continue feeding fuel. If the thermocouple fails or becomes out of calibration, the stove may shut down shortly after starting because it "thinks" the fire has gone out, or it may fail to start at all. This replacement thermocouple is encased in a protective ceramic or metal sheath to withstand the direct heat of the firepot while providing fast and accurate temperature readings. Replacing a worn or damaged thermocouple is one of the most common and effective ways to fix "no-fire" or "intermittent shutdown" issues, ensuring that your stove’s automated systems have the precise data they need to manage the combustion cycle reliably throughout the heating season.
