This Exhaust Sensing Probe (ESP), distinguished by its black wire or connector, is a critical feedback sensor for modern Harman pellet stove control systems. As a key component of the stove's internal safety and efficiency logic, the ESP probe is mounted in the exhaust path to provide the control board with precise temperature data. This black-connector version is specifically designed for use with newer digital control systems, offering high sensitivity and fast response times to thermal changes. The data provided by this probe allows the stove to automatically adjust the combustion blower and feed rate to maintain the desired heat level while preventing unsafe over-temperature conditions. It also signals the stove when it is safe to shut down the blowers after the fire has been extinguished. Due to its location in the exhaust stream, the probe is subject to harsh conditions; replacing a worn or soot-covered probe is a common and necessary maintenance step to ensure your stove continues to operate at peak efficiency and safety.
Replacement for newer Harman pellet stove models requiring the black-wire ESP probe assembly (3-20-11744).
