The room temperature sensor is a vital external monitoring component that allows your Harman pellet stove to operate based on the actual comfort level of your living space. This sensor consists of a sensitive thermistor connected to a long lead wire, allowing it to be positioned away from the direct heat of the stove to get an accurate reading of the ambient air temperature. When the stove is operated in 'Room Temp' mode, the control board uses input from this sensor to automatically modulate the heating output. If the room is below the set temperature, the stove will increase its firing rate; once the desired temperature is reached, the stove will throttle back or shut down, saving fuel and preventing the room from becoming overheated. This intelligent automation provides a 'set it and forget it' experience similar to a central heating system. If your stove is failing to maintain the correct room temperature or is cycling incorrectly, a damaged or inaccurate room sensor is often the cause, and replacement is necessary to restore full climate control functionality.
